Existing Conditions
Exit signs are illuminated constantly. Even though the load is small, the annual consumption of each fixture is significant. For example, a 12 watt exit sign will consume over 100 kWh annually.
Retrofit Conditions
It is recommended that LED (light emitting diode) exit signs be installed to reduce energy consumption, to extend the life cycle of the fixture, and to reduce maintenance costs. It may be possible to replace the light bulb within the fixture, which will reduce material and labour costs.
