Meter Components vs User-Defined Components

Think of Tariff Components as template fields representing the values on utility invoices.  Other than those that are of Type Constant, Tariff Components do not store values.  They simply allow ManagingEnergy to know what types of values to expect on the invoices.

A Meter Component is a type of Tariff Component that represents a Utility Invoice reading.  Sometimes Meter Components are referred to as Unit Components because they allow the Tariff Engine to know what type of unit will be entered from a Utility Invoice.

Tariff Components that are not Meter Components are called either User-Defined Components or sometimes Non-Meter Components.  User-Defined Components are either constant values or formulas.
