Managing Energy Inc. is the online software spinoff of a leading Canadian consulting firm. In business since 1990, we specialize in upgrading existing buildings to solve operating problems and use less energy. The ManagingEnergy system has been in development since 1994 – first as an internal tool and now as an online service. It is used to analyze utility billing information, document building systems and analyze operating practices – an essential step to uncovering conservation potential. Our total solution also involves identifying and assessing conservation opportunities, tracking implementation progress and processes, and ultimately tracking the long-term effectiveness of energy management programs.
We want to help building owners understand and take control of their utility costs. Whether the opportunities are outside the meter (perhaps comparison and renegotiation of commodity contracts, or identification of overbilling incidents), or whether they are inside your buildings (lighting conversions, control systems, tenant engagement programs, major system retrofits), ManagingEnergy is a full suite of tools designed as the backbone for your enterprise system.
In years past, our customers paid very substantial hard costs for the hardware, software and setup services needed to get the system running on their internal networks. Updates involved patches at each site and support sometimes meant sending our technical staff onsite. Other energy accounting packages still use this business model.
In 2006 through 2008, we completely rewrote the entire application using .NET technologies and moved to a client/server portal system hosted on our servers. The new Software as a Service (SaaS) model allowed us to speed up implementation, improve customer support, improve the user interface, add functionality and substantially reduce the cost of the application. The SaaS model has been an unqualified success with our customers and partners alike.
Through all of this, we maintained our unique position in the market. ManagingEnergy has long been the only system for work inside the building as well as outside the utility meter. It has all of the most advanced features of energy accounting systems, but ManagingEnergy is the only system with building equipment details, conservation opportunity details, and full energy auditing support.
The ManagingEnergy team is dedicated to reducing energy use and environmental impact. We continue to evolve with the industry, taking a leadership role by participating in industry events and speaking at major energy management conferences. Many government industries turn to ManagingEnergy because of our expertise in the field.
